As you approach Cañita from Panama City, the restaurant above is the first one you will see on your left as you enter Cañita's area. Its name is Fonda Yendis. The restaurant above is the second restaurant, called El Descanso, found on the left-hand side of the road coming into Cañita, a short distance from the first restaurant. The standard lunch menu includes: smoked chicken, smoked pork, beef, or filet of fish (usually tilapia from the lake) in a creole sauce or breaded). Side dishes include patacones (fried plantain), french fries, or rice, along with a simple salad and lentils (miniestra). The standard price is $3.50. In addition, it is possible to order special combination plates called Ordenes for $4.25. They are open every day of the week from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

As you arrive at the center of this small town, the road divides. The road to the left will take you to the lake. The road to the right will take you through the very short "main street" of Cañita. The third restaurant, called Doña Docha, is on the left-hand side of this main street. The breakfast menu includes chopped beafsteak or local sausages. The special of the day can be beefsteak, roast chicken, or special plates such as fried chicken, fried fish (tilapia or corvina) with french potatos or patacones (fried plantain) as side dishes. The accompaniments are rice with lentils (miniestra), salad and ripe slices of plantain. The price is $2.25 for breakfast and $2.50 for lunch. They are open every day of the week from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
